dc.description'This drawing is a copy of Angelo Maria Bigari's original which is preserved in the Austin Cooper collection as 2122 TX (66). The drawing shows a large roofless stone hall, with side arcades, and a large doorway leading to another room. The place is in ruins with trees growing out of the walls. On the left a hill can be seen in the distance.' (www.nli.ie) 'O'Rourke's Hall is located beside the River Bonet in the town of Dromahaire. It is located close to Drumahaire castle and can be accessed via the access road to the French Restaurant in Drumahaire. The O'Rourkes are traditionally credited with having constructed this hall, and it is possible that they did so after the Battle of Magh Sleacht in 1256, when they regained control of West Breifne. Alternatively it may have been constructed by the Anglo-Norman William Gorm de Lacy who in 1221 undertook to build three castles in Breifne for Philip de Angulo.' (www.breifne.ie)en
