Geddes spent the majority of her childhood in Belfast where she was later educated as an illustrator and graphic designer at the Belfast School of Art. In 1910 she began attending William Orpen's classes at the Dublin Metropolitan School and exhibiting at the Arts and Crafts Society. She also exhibited at the Louvre, the Royal Hibernian Academy, Society of Scottish Artists, the Ulster Academy and others. She is best known for her stained glass works, many of which were executed with An Tur Gloine. The present illustration is tentatively dated to 1923 for stylistic reasons and the inclusion of an orange cat, believed to be Geddes' own.en
