dc.description | Henri Gascars (also Gascar/Gascard) is a French portrait painter who travelled extensively throughout Europe. His sitters are often depicted as mythological deities, set against a marble column, drapery and landscape.
The sitter of the present painting was the eldest daughter of Richard Jennings of Sandridge, Hertfordshire. She married firstly Sir George Hamilton and later became second wife of Richard Talbot, 2nd Earl of Tyrconnel, Viceroy of Ireland. | en |
