dc.description.abstractPart 1 describes the synthetic route and the characterisation of a family of nitrogen heterosuperbenzene compounds. Those polyaromatic ligands, which contain a fused dipyrimidine unit possess unusual photophysical properties and are ideal for transition metal coordination. The novel homoleptic Ru(II) complexes and their photophysical properties are presented.
