Abstract:
The main aim of this thesis was the development of a maintenance management
methodology which incorporates two aspects of a structural inspection, i.e. (i) detection of a defect and (ii) sizing of a defect. Markov transition matrices were used to simulate the growth, inspection, repair and failure of a population of defects over time. The range of damage extent was subdivided into groups.
