This thesis entitled 'Design, Synthesis and Photophysical Evaluation of Novel 1,8- Naphthalimide Based Troger's Bases' is divided into five chapters. The first chapter provides a brief description of the structure of DNA and the different modes by which molecules may interact with it. In addition, an introduction is given to the discovery and development of 1,8- naphthalimides as anti-cancer agents. Such research represents an important contribution to the design of potent therapeutic agents, some of which have even entered clinical trials.
